From the Courts - State District Court: Man sentenced to more than six years supervision on assault charge

Francisco Delrosa Valencia Jr. was sentenced to more than six years supervision in two cases after he previously pleaded beauty to an assault with a weapon charge.

Valencia was charged Jan. 8 with felony charges of one count of assault with a weapon and two counts of intimidation and misdemeanor counts of partner or family member assault and resisting arrest after a person reported Valencia assaulted them Dec. 30 including attacking them with a box cutter.

He was serving a suspended sentence on a failure to register as a sexual offender charge.

May 6 in a plea agreement, Valencia pleaded guilty to the assault with a weapon charge.

State District Judge Kaydee Snipes Ruiz in state District Court last Monday continued Valencia’s suspended sentence in the failure to register case and sentenced him to five years with the state Department of Corrections, all suspended and to run after the previous sentence. She recommended he be placed in anger management programs.
