Havre High harriers ready for a big day of racing at Prairie Farms

Friday's Havre Invite held in conjunction with Frontier Conference Preview Meet

The Havre High cross country teams started practice nearly a month ago. So it's been a long wait to compete.

Now, however, the time has come.

Friday morning, the Blue Ponies will host the 2020 Havre Invitational at Prairie Farms Golf Course, in conjunction with the Montana State University-Northern cross country teams hosting the 2020 Frontier Preview Meet. So it will be a full day of cross country at Prairie Farms.

For the Ponies, who have a new head coach in veteran runner Kari Filius, it will also be the first chance to compete in a meet this season. Havre held an intrasquad race last week at the course at MSU-Northern. Friday's meet, however, will be against top competition, including Class A stalwarts like Hardin and Lewistown, as well as tough Class B teams from Glasgow and Malta. Several areal schools are also set to compete in the meet, which starts at 10 a.m. with the boys varsity race at 10 a.m. and the girls varsity race at 11 a.m. The Blue Ponies will also honor their senior runners before Friday morning's meet.
