Hi-Line Volleyball: Busy schedule continues for area volleyball teams

Hi-Line Volleyball Roundup

With area teams playing mostly conference matches due to the coronavirus, it seems like every volleyball game on the Hi-Line is a key one. And this past week was no exception to that.

District 7C matches started last Thursday where North Star beat Geraldine-Highwood 24-13, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-15 in a tough conference match. Shayla Borlaug had 11 kills and Kenidee Wolery had 30 assists in the win for the Knights.

Last Thursday also saw Fort Benton sweep Centerville by scores of 25-10, 25-9 and 25-10. Abby Clark had six kills and a block for the Longhorns. Rocky Boy fell to Great Falls Central in four sets and Harlem lost a five-set heartbreaker to the Malta M-Ettes.

North Star was right back on the court Friday night, where the Knights took down the Box Elder Bears by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 26-24. Shayla Borlaug and Jade Wendland each had six kills for the Knights, while Rain Watson tallied three aces. No stats were reported for Box Elder.

Friday night in the 7C also saw Chinook beat Chester-Joplin-Inverness by scores of 20-25, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-15. Delaney Kellam had 22 kills and Lily Surber added four aces for Chinook, while Tatum Hull had 10 kills and Abby Fraser totaled 27 assists for the Hawks.

North Star's third match of the week would also be the toughest, though, as the Knights fell to Fort Benton by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-18. The Longhorns got eight kills from Aspen Giese, while Maci Molinario had five digs. Jade Wendland had five kills and three aces for the Knights.

Also last Tuesday, CJI and Hays-Lodge Pole had a make-up match with the Hawks beating the Thunderbirds twice. In the first match, CJI won by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-19, while the Hawks swept the second match by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-11. Overall, Tatum Hull had 32 digs, 38 kills, 13 blocks and four aces, while Molly Nelson had 75 digs and Abby Fraser had 110 assists.
