COVID-19 interrupts Harlem sports

As has been the case since the start of fall sports, things are changing quickly during the coronavirus pandemic.

And that's been especially true this week, as both Harlem and Box Elder schools announced positive cases within their school systems and a return to remote learning only for the time being at both schools.

However, the announcements have affected sports differently.

Harlem canceled its scheduled volleyball game against Malta Tuesday night, as well as its homecoming football game Friday night against Malta. The Wildcats had also already had a scheduled volleyball match against Conrad canceled earlier this week. The match was scheduled to take place Friday night, but last weekend, Conrad announced it was going to remote learning only and suspending all sports for two weeks due to positive cases in the high school.

Meanwhile, Box Elder Superintendent Jeremy MacDonald said Tuesday that Bears' athletics are still a go at this time. The Bears are scheduled to play Fort Benton in volleyball Thursday, while the Box Elder football team travels to Valier for a Six-Man North game on Friday night. The Bears beat Heart Butte last week.
