Pony spikers return to the Corral Saturday

Tonight's match in Shelby is canceled

Updated 12:30 p.m. Thursday: Per Havre High AD Brian Kessler, Shelby has canceled tonight's match agains Havre in Shelby.

The Havre High volleyball team is back in action for another week of the 2020 season, where the 4-3 Blue Ponies will aim to gain some ground in the Northeastern A conference and overall in the Eastern A.

There are a lot of factors still out there within the year, but Havre is excited for another weekend on the court.

The first game of the weekend will be against the Shelby Coyotes in Shelby tonight at 5 p.m. in Shelby, followed by a Saturday showdown with the Glendive Lady Devils at 2:30 p.m. at the Havre High Gymnasium. Both teams have given the Blue Ponies a wild set of games this season, but HHS is looking forward to another shot at grabbing some wins.

Havre head coach Steph Huse is glad to start off the weekend against a tough Class B opponent in the Coyotes.

"We go down to Shelby Thursday and have a rematch with them," Huse said. "They were great to play at home, have a very talented player on their squad that was fun to play against and we look forward to playing them once again on their floor."

HHS will be bringing a lot to the weekend. Seniors Talia Ralph and Sydney Wilting will be a big factor into the scheme of the Ponies. Ralph has been a great source of offensive prowess, alongside sophomore Yelena Miller and senior Quinn McDonald, while Wilting will be a source of plenty of digs this weekend. Meanwhile, senior Ellie Collins will look to rack up some assists to help the team succeed.

Shelby played a thriller in the Havre High Gymnasium a couple weeks ago, bringing the game down to the wire, but ultimately fell to a rally by the Ponies on their home-court. There will likely be another tough battle between the two teams once again, but this time Havre will have to grab the win on the road, which is not as easy as it sounds.

Then, the Lady Devils will be stepping into the Havre High Gymnasium for a battle with the Ponies. Last time Glendive came to town in the regular season, Havre come away with a 3-2 win off of a comeback rally. The Lady Devils do not mess around and the Blue Pony spikers will be looking to grab another win on their home-court against the No. 1 in the Northeastern A.

"That'll be a big match for us," Huse said. "We haven't seen them since the very beginning of the season. They are a very talented team and at the top of our conference, so we're looking forward to seeing them again and seeing how we play against them with the improvement we've made on our team."

The Blue Pony spikers head to Shelby to play the Coyotes tonight at 5 p.m., followed by a Saturday showdown with the Glendive Lady Devils at

2:30 p.m. at the Havre High Gymnasium.
