The Montana State University-Northern wrestling team had been tabbed to finish third in the Cascade Collegiate Conference this coming season. The league released its annual preseason Coaches Poll Wednesday.

Defending conference champion Menlo was picked to win the CCC this season, while Embry-Riddle was picked second.

The Lights, of head coach Tyson Thivierge, received two first-place votes and 118 points in the poll, while their rival, the Providence Argos were picked fourth. The rest of the poll has Eastern Oregon at No. 5, followed by Southern Oregon, Arizona Christian, Corban University, Life, Vanguard, Simpson and Warner Pacific.

The Lights are slated to host the CCC championships in February.
