Longhorns roll, Pioneers come up short in Class C playoffs

Fort Benton scored 42 points in the first half, including three touchdowns by Jace Thompson as the Longhorns crushed Joilet 64-14 in Fort Benton Saturday in the Class C playoffs. The Longhorns improved to 8-0 and will now meet undefeated Flint Creek in the semifinals. That game will be next Saturday in Fort Benton. The winner will face either Shelby or Scobey in the 8-Man state championship game. Meanwhile, the playoff run for the Big Sandy Pioneers came to an end Saturday in Medicine Lake. The Pioneers were beaten by the Froid-Lake Hawks 42-26 in the Six-Man semifinals, despite Kade Strutz 243 yards and four touchdowns. Big Sandy lost in the semifinals for the third year in a row.
