Ice Hawks open the season at home

Havre high school hockey falls twice to Great Falls, hosts Bozeman this weekend

Just in time for some nasty winter weather, the Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey season got underway under the Havre Ice Dome last weekend.

The Ice Hawks made their season debut with a pair of home games against the Great Falls Americans. But the Americans made sure it was a difficult debut for the Ice Hawks, with two wins in the Ice Dome.

Friday night, in Havre's opener, the Americans shut out the Ice Hawks 4-0. Saturday morning saw the Ice Hawks battle back, but they still fell to the Americans 6-4. In that loss, the Ice Hawks got a pair of goals from Tavish McLean, while Michael Emge and Jacob Herring also found the back of the net for Havre.

The Ice Hawks continue their season with a pair of home games this weekend against the Bozeman Ice Dogs. Havre's home schedule also includes games against Missoula Dec. 4-5, Miles City Dec. 18-19 and Helena Jan. 15-16.

This weekend's games against the Ice Dogs will be Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. inside the Havre Ice Dome.
