Havre Daily News staff

Montana Special Olympics is inviting people to be a below-zero hero.

The Havre SubZero SuperHero Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics Montana is going virtual this year to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The deadline to submit plunge videos and photographs is right around the corner, Sunday, Nov. 22.

“We encourage you to join thousands of Plungers across the state in this amazing opportunity to showoff your creativity and get ‘Freezin' for a Reason,’” an online message for Special Olympics Montana said.

The message invited people to learn more at https://www.classy.org/campaign/subzero-superhero-plunge-2020/c299073 .

That page says people can register online by clicking a button on the page then creating a fundraising page

It suggests sending a link to the fundraising page to family, friends and co-workers, asking them to support the person creating the page as they take the Virtual Plunge

The page says people can come up with a fun and safe way to take the plunge, such as taking an ice bath in a swimsuit; making a snow angel in costume; holding a water balloon fight in the snow, or a super soaker battle outside.

“Have fun and be creative,” the page says.

The volunteers then upload their plunge video.

People need to submit video and photos of their virtual plunge by Sunday to http://somt.org/plunge.

The official Virtual Plunge video will be posted on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/plungemt the day of the plunge, Nov. 28.

Inappropriate or unsafe submissions will not be included in the final Virtual Plunge video, the page says.

People can share their video and photos to their social media, tagging the plunge when they do,  #plunge406

All funds benefit Special Olympics Montana, the page says.
