Havre Salvation Army Virtual Red Kettle up and running

Salvation Army’s Red Kettle event, the organization’s main annual fund raiser, is underway and this year includes a virtual element.

Social Services Director Trina Crawford said people can go to https://give-nw.salvationarmy.org/campaign/havre-virtual-kettles/c309916 to make donations where they can see members of the Havre Salvation Army Staff and Advisory Committee competing to see who will raise the most money.

“All the money raised in the Red Kettle event is what we will turn around to help people in the next year,” said Crawford in an interview earlier this week. “Whatever we raise is what has to last us until the next year.”

She said it’s especially important to raise as much money as possible by their Dec. 24 deadline, because she anticipates a lot of people will be in need even after the pandemic ends.

“When (COVID-19) lifts and they take away all those government grants, we’re going to get hit hard,” she said.

She said people can also donate using GooglePlay and Apple if they don’t have physical money on them but want to donate when they see the bell ringers.

Potential donations can also be sent in the form of checks to their PO Box; 418 Havre Montana.
