Obituary - Frederick "Fred" Stremcha

Frederick "Fred" Stremcha, 87, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Care Center Saturday, December 12, 2020.

Private family services will be held, and Fred will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery beside his wife, Joan.

His family has suggested memorial donations be made in Fred's memory to the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church Coat Drive, 410 Fifth Avenue, Havre, MT 59501, the Alzheimer's Association-Montana, 3010 11th Ave N., Billings, MT 59101, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Fred was born December 31, 1932, on the family ranch north of Havre to Joe and Bessie Stremcha. He was raised north of Havre, attending Havre Public Schools.

Following high school, Fred began working for the Great Northern Railroad. In 1953, he entered the US Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1955, at which time he returned to Havre.

He married Joan Harbolt in 1956 in Chinook, and the couple made their home in Havre, where they raised their three sons.

Fred worked for Trig's Electrical Supply and Havre Electric before opening Stremcha Electric, which he operated for approximately 10 years before retiring.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. Fred was a member of the Havre Elks, the Havre Eagles and the IBEW.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Stremcha; parents, Joe and Bessie Stremcha, and brother Ed Stremcha.

Fred is survived by his sons, Gary (Lorna) Stremcha of Havre, Paul (Julia) Stremcha of Scottsdale, AZ, and Dan (Marla) Stremcha of Helena; four grandchildren, Corey Stremcha, Stephanie (Dane) Aberle, and Tyler and Nolan Stremcha; sister, Carolyn Green of Havre; brother Bob Stremcha of Kimberling City, MO, and several nieces and nephews.
