Oliver was born June 12, 1947 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Orville and Stella (Proudlock) Grindeland.  His family moved to Great Falls where he was raised and educated. Oliver attended Northern Montana College in Havre, graduating in May of 1972 with an associate degree in technology with an emphasis in electrical engineering. He then went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad, where he worked on the locomotives, until he retired in 2012 after working for the company for 37 years.

Ollie, as many called him was a very kind soul. He was always around to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He would stop by to visit on his daily travels or just drop a newspaper, a church bulletin or a note in your mailbox. He loved helping others, which was evident by the number of friends and associations he had.

He enjoyed visiting with people at the former 15 West and the Tip-It.  Ollie liked telling stories and catching up with people whom he had not seen in a while. He looked forward to his hunting trips in the fall, hoping to get a big ol' deer! Even if he didn't get one, he always had a good story and great memories of his trips.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Oliver is survived by his son, David Grindeland of Seattle, WA; his sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Jim) Marymee of Ford, Kansas; three nephews and many friends.
