Obituary - Lois C. (Pattison) Kato

Lois C. (Pattison) Kato, 90, passed away due to natural causes at the Care and Comfort Home Sunday, December 13, 2020.

Cremation has taken place, and services will be held when it is safe to gather. Her family has suggested memorial donations be made in Lois' memory to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church or St. Jude School, PO Box 407, Havre, MT 59501, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Lois was born July 27, 1930, in Froid, MT, to Guy and Hilda (Skillingberg) Pattison. She was raised in Homestead and Plentywood, graduating from Plentywood High School in 1948.

After graduation, Lois moved to Havre and entered the Sacred Heart School of Nursing, graduating in 1951. That October, she married Ray Kato in Spokane, WA, and the couple had eight children whom they raised in Havre.

Over the years, Lois put her nursing degree to use, working for Sacred Heart Hospital, Northern Montana Hospital, and the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, from which she retired.

Lois enjoyed sewing, bike rides, and going to the Bear Paws for picnics. She always found the setting so peaceful.

She also loved to watch her children and grandchildren in all their sport and school activities.

Lois was a faithful member of St. Jude Thaddeus Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Kato; parents, Guy and Hilda Pattison; brother, Richard Pattison; daughter-in-law Linda Stabio (Scott's wife); and Meg Morris (Michael's fiancé).

Lois is survived by her children, Scott Kato of Beaverton, OR, Paula (Doug) Sheppard of Havre, Kathy (Steve Presti) Kato of Brewster, NY, Donna Kato of Denver, CO, Cindy (Dana) Roe and Barry (Sue) Kato, all of Havre, and Michael Kato and Teresa (John Hendow) Kato, all of Seattle, WA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister Patricia (Norman) Cairns of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; in-laws Mark and Johanna Kato, Arlene Kato, Frank and Nancy Kato, and Carol Moesinger; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
