Letters to the Editor - We all should be involved in keeping Beaver Creek Park healthy

Editor,

A few weeks ago, Lou Hagener submitted to the paper a letter to the editor about the policies of the Hill County Park Board and Beaver Creek Park. His letter, published in Havre Daily News Tuesday, Dec. 22, was full of great information and something all Hill County residents should read and ponder.

In that letter he mentioned that we need a consistent vision for Beaver Creek Park and we need to make it “workable and built on valid science, prudent natural resource management, specific infrastructure issues and sound business practices while striking a balance between recreational, economic, ecological/biological and hydrologic/water quality considerations.” I couldn’t agree more about the importance of documenting a policy for this. We are all owners of this park and deserve all information and answers to any and all of our questions.

He also mentioned that it is time to stop forcing personal beliefs and agendas on our park. “It is time for us to get our heads together, listen to each other, respect differences and work in the interest of all the natural resource values, issues and opportunities we have, and could have, for all the owners and users of our Beaver Creek Park.”

I completely agree! We should all be involved in keeping our park healthy and viable. It was originally intended for recreation and should remain that way. Hill County commissioners and park board members need to be cognizant of that.

Let’s all be involved.
