County bee canceled due to pandemic
Fifth grader Keyon Roberts competes Tuesday in the Sunnyside Elementary School spelling bee. Roberts won the bee by correctly spelling "fanged" and will be registered for the online state bee.
Fifth grader Keyon Roberts won Sunnyside Intermediate School's annual spelling bee Tuesday afternoon on the word "fanged" and will be registered for an online intermediate spelling bee and the winners of that will advance to the the Montana State Spelling Bee.
The online intermediate bee replaces the Hill County Spelling Bee, canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In previous years, students who won their school bees would advance to the county bee, with the winner of that advancing to the state spelling bee.
