Skylights ready for long-awaited return to the volleyball court

Northern begins new-look schedule with home matches against Western

Due to COVID-19, all Frontier Conference volleyball in 2020 was wiped out, but the league and the Skylights are back this weekend, as the start of the special Frontier spring season that begins tonight with the Skylights hosting the Bulldogs in the Armory Gymnasium.

The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team hasn't played an official NAIA/Frontier Conference match since Nov. 15. No, not Nov. 19 of this past year, Nov. 15 of 2019, when the Skylights' season ended at the Frontier tourney in Great Falls.

Since then, Northern and the rest of the Frontier have seen an entire year of volleyball wiped out due to the COVID-19 crisis. It started with no spring ball last year, followed by the move this past summer to change the 2020 season to the second semester, or in essence, the spring of 2021.

Needless to say, it's been a long, frustrating wait,...
