QPR suicide prevention training sessions offered online

Press release

QPR Suicide Prevention Trainings will be facilitated online the first Fridays in February, March, April and May from 1-2:30 p.m. These trainings are free to anyone in Hill County, sponsored by the Hill County Local Advisory Council on Behavioral Health and the Hill County Suicide Awareness Coalition and Montana State University-Northern.

To register, people can email [email protected] .

QPR: Question, persuade, refer, are three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught gatekeeper training in the world.

Participants will learn how to question, persuade and refer someone who may be suicidal; common myths about suicide, why suicide rates are high in Montana; the warning signs of suicide; how to ask if a person is suicidal, how to persuade someone to stay alive and how to get help for someone in crisis and potentially save a life.

The training is about 90 minutes and the certification will be active for two years.
