Grief Poem - It's Winter

It's winter in our lives, dear Lord, we need a touch from You,

Let not this "season" mess with us, this pain we're walking through.

If joy is our reluctant guest, and "spring" has left our step,

Grant that we find some meaning, Lord, give us a bit more pep.

Time hurries on but Grief lingers, come morning, noon or night,

So be with us, each day, each hour, we know that You're our light!

Loving Father, our thoughts turn now, to "winter" others bear.

Lord, discontent is not easy, help them know others care.

Give us wisdom, find meaning, too, where love has always been.

To love others, both young and old, just show us how and when.

Sun dancing on the water, Lord, that was a special day.

With friends and kin, 'twas a great day, as we watched children play!

And on and on and on again, memories are really great.

Recalling plays and silly stuff or watching kids ice skate!

But life goes on, then You call home when each ones time is right.

Some day twill be our time to fly, soon you'll be in our sight!

As You lead us, Your older kids, in zestful living spell,

Arouse in us a sense of joy, bless us in our "hard shell"!

We're asking, Lord, for special care, for us in our grey years.

You don't want us to give up yet, with doubts and fears and tears.

Again, we ask that each new day, some joy, You'll give to us.

And in this cold old winter time, that would be a great plus!

Grief lingers on, You know what's best, You've given us a form,

Great honor(1) is a gift from You, please guide us in Grief's storm.
