STATE WRESTLING: Ponies crown two state champs

The Havre High wrestling team is bringing home two more individual state champions. Saturday night in Miles City, senior Mick Chagnon won the 120-pound state championship at the Class A state tournament, while Orion Thivierge captured the 170-pound championship for the Ponies, who finished sixth with 87 points.

Chagnon won his second state championship of his career by capping a perfect season with a win over Eli Warner of Frenchtown Saturday. Thivierge followed up last year's 160-pound title with a state chipper at 170 Saturday, pinning rival Keaton Potter of Lewistown in the second period. Havre's Kale VanCampen also got sixth at 160 pounds for the Ponies. Sidney captured its fourth straight state championship, while Laurel was second and Lewistown was third.

At the B-C state tourney Saturday in Shelby, Chinook got fourth-place finishes from Tyler Schoen (170) and Wyatt Dunbar (HWT), while Fort Benton's Brock Hanford was fifth at heavyweight and Trevor O'Hara was sixth at 103.
