MSU-N's Neubauer honored by the Frontier

After a thrilling split with Carroll College last weekend in the Armory Gymnasium, the Montana State University-Northern Skylights have a Frontier Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

Northern senior libero Shania Neubauer was named Frontier Defender of the Week. Neubauer is a 5-foot-9 senior outside hitter from Belgrade. MSU-Northern went 1-1 in their weekend home series against (RV) Carroll College. The Skylights lost 3-0 Friday and won 3-1 Saturday. Neubauer averaged 7.29 digs per set.

Rocky Mountain College's Natalie Hilderman earned Setter of the Week honors, while Providence' Sadie Lott earned Attacker of the Week.

In football, Eastern Oregon senior quarterback Kai Quinn was named Frontier Offensive Player of the Week. Quinn is a 6-foot, 220-pound senior quarterback from Pendleton, Oregon.

In Eastern's 28-0 opening season win over Carroll College, Quinn was 16 of 28 passing for 216 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 15 yards on six carries. The win was Eastern's sixth straight over Carroll dating back to 2015.

College of Idaho's Taeson Hardin was named Defensive Player of the Week. Hardin is a 6-foot, 180-pound junior defensive back from Oak Harbor, Wash.

In No. 5 College of Idaho's 10-3 win over Rocky Mountain College, Hardin recorded six solo tackles, three assisted tackles, two pass breakups, two pass breakups and one forced fumble. His forced fumble led to C of I's go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter.

EOU kicker Jaiden Machuca earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Machuca is a 6-foot, 170-pound senior kicker from Parker, Colo. In Eastern's 28-0 opening season win over Carroll College, Machuca was a perfect 4 for 4 in PAT's. His punting average was 46.2 yards per punt. Two punts landed inside the 20-yard line.
