Art Alley spring celebration slated for downtown Havre

Hi-Line Arts Council event slated for April 17

Press release

The Hi-Line Arts Council recently announced the organization’s inaugural “Art Alley Spring Celebration” event, scheduled for Saturday, April 17, from 3-8 p.m.

The event is designed to introduce Havre and the Hi-Line to the recently designated “Art Alley,” located in downtown Havre between Second and Third Streets and Third and Fourth Avenues. The east entrance of the alley begins between Helmbrecht Studio and Crawford Distillery.

The Havre City Council has approved the closure of Fourth Avenue between Second and Third Streets, in addition to the alley, for the event.

“This free outdoor event is the perfect way to celebrate warmer weather, the coming of spring, hopefully the beginning of the end of the pandemic and to showcase Havre’s new Art Alley, which is designed to be a location to display area artwork and a focal point for future downtown activities,” said Pam Veis, chair of the Hill County Community Foundation and member of the Downtown Havre Matters! group. “Especially given the year we have all experienced, our goal with this event is to provide a safe, family-friendly environment to celebrate the resiliency of this community and the entire Hi-Line, and to interact with one another as neighbors again, something we haven’t been able to do for over a year.”

The event will include live music, art exhibits, interactive art projects for children and shopping specials at local merchants. Bands that will be performing include the Best Westerns and the Milk River Band.

Admission is free. Beverages will be available for purchase.

“Havre has endured a lot over the past year, so we really hope the community comes out to enjoy a relaxing time with one another and to also celebrate the arts in our community,” said Julea Robbins, executive director of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce and member of the Downtown Havre Matters! group. “Bring the kids, the grandkids and soak in the hospitality that our community is known for.”

Appropriate health measures, including social distancing, is encouraged, and hand sanitizing stations will be present at several locations.
