Grief Poem - The Clock Ticks On

The clock ticks on, though you've been gone; days, weeks, months or some years.

You're daily missed, sunshine or clouds; we often shed some tears.

Amazing how the Lord made us, sperm, eggs and free-will mind;

We have a choice, each one of us, we can be rash or kind.

It's fun to watch the many birds, they're under God's safe care,

Birdbath is full, they drink or bathe, then fly to who knows where.

But we were made in God's image, for us He cares much more.

Home is with Him in Heaven above; we'll meet 'cross Jordon's shore.

You care for those who've gone ahead, parent, sibling or child;

Lord, care for us, 'cause we're still here, help us to not go wild.

Remembering what our Mama said, "Beware of Heavenly Clock,"

So, when our Lord does call us home, that we won't be in shock.

Nearly each day we need a hug, some beauty and some love.

Hugs can arrive via the mail, and love comes from above.

Death leaves each one of us with pain - heartaches are hard to heal.

But love steps in with memories, so sweet no one can steal.

Recalling back when we held hands, a'walkin' in the park.

We so enjoyed hearing birds sing, especially Meadowlark.

Oh, Lord, we pray 'bout everything, we miss our dear ones so,

We loved them much, and they loved us; You'll call, and off we'll go!

When we're so sad missing loved ones, Grief's Clock keeps ticking on.

Birds of the air, they know that too; soon Heavenly days will dawn.
