Obituary - Arnold H. Peterson

Arnold H. Peterson, 70, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.

Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of Arnie's life will be held later this summer.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Arnie was born on February 17, 1951, in Havre to Arnold C. and Helen (Metzger) Peterson. He was raised with his brothers and sisters on the family farm north of Havre. He graduated from Havre High School in 1969, and attended Northern Montana College briefly before entering the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge, Arnie remained in California for a year and then returned to Havre. He worked as a truck driver for Pixley, Husky, and Halliburton before beginning his extensive career with Frito Lay as an over-the-road driver.

Arnie retired from Frito Lay in 2016 and spent the next five years riding motorcycles, camping, cooking, and socializing with his friends and family. He was a friendly, outgoing man who always seemed to be joking around and had an incredibly positive attitude.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Helen Peterson, and brother Jack Peterson.

Arnie is survived by his two stepdaughters, Melanie (Ryan Wartena) Kaba of California and Megan (Randal) Halfman of Missoula; three granddaughters, Avalon Wartena and Lois and Curie Halfman; siblings, Edith Tedrick of California, and Charlis Carpenter, Hila (David) Stevens, Charles "Bud" (Beverly) Peterson, and Jody (Don) Peterson-Thoma, all of Havre; numerous nieces and nephews, whom he adored, and many, many friends.
