Obituary - Mary D. Pleskac

Our beloved Mary D. Pleskac passed away peacefully at home of natural causes with her niece at her side, which was her wish.

Mary was born April 27, 1925, near Havre, to Fred and Pauline (Rypal) Dusek Sr., the sixth of seven children. She attended Box Elder grade school, and graduated from Havre High School in 1943. After graduation, Mary worked at Deaconess Hospital and Buttrey's.

On June 15, 1947, she married Joe J. Pleskac, Jr. in Havre, and the couple farmed for many years on St. Joe Road near the Canadian border, while maintaining a home in Havre, as well. After her marriage, she spent her time farming with her husband and gardening. She also enjoyed collecting white doves, white cats, and cardinals.

Mary found joy in life spending time with family, friends, and neighbors. She was involved in the St. Joe Friendly Club, and in her later years, volunteered at the Northern Montana Care Center.

Mary was proud of her Czech heritage, and enjoyed cooking traditional dishes, especially poppyseed rolls. She fluently spoke a Bohemian dialect of the Czech language.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Pleskac; stepson, Larry Pleskac; parents, Fred and Pauline Dusek, Sr .; all six of her siblings, Rose Brandt, Jerry Dusek, Lydia Rice, Fred Dusek Jr., Julia Pleskac and Betty Cloud, and two nieces.

Mary is survived by 19 nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends too numerous to count.

Aunt Mary will be forever remembered as the solid rock of the family, always there for everyone with her door open and a welcoming smile waiting.
