Havre Daily wins awards at state newspaper convention

Havre Daily News saw success over the weekend at the Montana Newspaper Association annual convention in Big Sky, winning four first-place awards and numerous other awards in the annual Better Newspapers Contest.

“Very proud of the content our staff put out in what was a very trying and difficult 2020,” Havre Daily News Publisher George Ferguson said. “We have a great staff in all departments, and they worked very hard this past year. Everybody has done a great job, and it’s always nice to be recognized for that.”

Following are the awards earned by Havre Daily News:

• Best Sports and Outdoor Column Writing — George Ferguson, first place and third place

• Best Sports Page Layout and Design — first place, George Ferguson and Stacy Mantle

• Bests Sports Photo — Colin Thompson, first place and second place

• Best Sports Story — George Ferguson, third place

• Best Continuing News Coverage — Rachel Jamieson, third place

• Best Portrait Photo — Colin Thompson, second place

• Best Sponsor Page — first place and second place, Stacy Mantle and Havre Daily News staff.
