Great Northern RAM Rodeo finally returns

Gavin Nelson from Wibaux rides a horse in the saddle bronc riding competition at the Great Northern RAM Rodeo Friday at the Great Northern Fair outdoor arena. He came in second in over two rounds with a score of 131 points to earn $225.60 that went toward his standings in the Northern Rodeo Association.

As one of many events that was missed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Great Northern RAM Rodeo looked to make up for lost time with events this past Thursday and Friday nights at the Great Northern Fair. As the cowboys and cowgirls returned to the fair's outdoor arena for the first time in two years, many riders were happy to take part in this Havre tradition.

"It felt great. It was wonderful," said rider Doug Kallenberger. "I felt rusty myself tonight but that's alright, (I'm) getting back into it."
