Obituary - Frank Xavier Ybarra

Frank Xavier Ybarra, 75, of Havre, passed away Sunday morning August 1, 2021, of natural causes at Benefis Hospital, Great Falls.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Holland & Bonine has been entrusted with arrangements.

Frank was born June 6, 1946, to Frank and Myrtle Ybarra in Butte, Montana. He attended Webster Garfield Elementary School and graduated from Butte High School in 1964. After graduation, Frank applied and was accepted to Barber School in Spokane, Washington. He was hired by the Northern Pacific Railroad in February 1965, where he worked at the freight house in Butte.

October 1965, he was drafted by the U.S. Army and sent to serve in Vietnam for two years, attaining the rank of Specialist 5. Upon being discharged, he returned to Butte and continued working for the railroad. In 1991, he was transferred to Havre, to work in the payroll office of the Burlington Northern Railroad and retired in 2008 with 43 years of service with the railroad.

Frank married Susan Fulks November 30, 1968, and the couple had two children, Frank Jr. and Carol Lynn. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2018. He was also a 53-year member of the Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myrtle Ybarra; stepfather, Claude Leverton; his sisters, Connie (Dan) Shea, Linda (Pat) Finnegan.

Frank is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Frank (Lori); granddaughter Alyssa, and grandson Frank III, of Morgan Hill, California; daughter, Carol Lynn Ybarra, and granddaughters Ava and Stella Hutchins of Roswell, Georgia; brothers, Claude (Annette) Leverton of Whitehall, MT, and Robert (Kathy) Fulks of Idaho Falls, ID; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
