North Star's Gavin Spicher throws the ball against Big Sandy last season. In their season opener this past weekend, North Star lost to Bainville, 53-45.

In their opening game of the season, North Star six-man football had a dominant performance on the ground with 459 rushing yards. But that was not enough Saturday afternoon as they lost a 53-45 shootout to Bainville at home.

The teams traded blows throughout the game with Bainville leading 47-45 heading to the fourth quarter. Bainville finally put the game away in the fourth with a 46-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jesse Strickland to Connor Wade with 8:50 left in the game. After three quarters of explosive football, the Knights offense failed to score in the final 12 minutes.
