Local Golf Report: Champions crowned at Prairie Farms

All good things must come to an end. And for many, league golf is one of those things that come to an end this time of year.

That was certainly the case this past week at Prairie Farms Golf Course, as both the men’s and women’s leagues wrapped up their seasons.

In the men’s 18-hole finale last Wednesday, Master Sports defeated Michelob Light for the championship. Congrats to the team of Doug Sheppard, Barry Kato, Justin Halverson and Wayne Bolken, and also Terry Sheppard and Kyle Sheppard for being a part of the winning team this season.

Last Thursday night also saw the ladies finish their 2021 season with Prairie Farms defeating Patrick Construction in the women’s league championship match. The championship team composed of Sarah Spangler, Jenna Jensen, Abby Nicholas, Renessa Galland, Chandra Mooomey, Kristi Peterson and Alysia Mosness. Patrick Construction’s team included Katie Heath, Kathy Peterson, Stacy Mantle, Carolyn Patrick, Sue Armstrong, Melissa Oberquell, and Jade Miller.

Prairie Farms also crowned its Men’s Club Champion Sunday, as Jeremy Jensen claimed the title for the seventh time in the last eight summers. Jensen fired a one-under par 71 to edge defending champion Kyle Miller for the overall title. Shane Patacsil also won the overall net championship Sunday. Congrats to everyone who won and for everyone playing Sunday, and thanks to C.J. for setting it all up. It was a great tournament, with a great field, and hopefully, we’ll see even more players next year.

There are still championships yet to be decided as well.

Next Sunday, the Women’s Club Championship will be held, while men’s league at Beaver Creek Golf Course wraps up Thursday as Triangle and Vic’s will meet in the championship match. BCGC and Chvilicek Farms will play for third place as well. 

In the women’s league at BCGC, Vine 19 won the end of season scramble.

BCGC will also hold a Club Championship coming soon, and there is still a tournament or two left on the slate as well. Call the Pro Shop for more info.
