Obituary - Dani Lee Buffalo Sr. Baaa'paamaaxpakaate 'He who loves his sacrament'

Dani Lee Buffalo Sr., 42, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at his home in Rocky Boy. His wake service began Sunday at 5 p.m. with his traditional funeral service 10 a.m. this morning Monday, September 13, 2021, all at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy. Burial was to follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Dani was born July 16, 1979, in Havre, Montana, to Virgil and Iris Jean (Denny) Buffalo, and attended schools in Rocky Boy and Box Elder until the family moved to Pryor, Montana, where he attended Plenty Coups High School. He worked with special ed students, worked various other jobs and also coached junior high school basketball in Pryor. He previously coached football at Box Elder School. He was always trying to help people who needed it. He was a jack of all trades and would do anything for anyone. He was always helping at wakes and funerals and other ceremonies.

Dani was a very social person who enjoyed socializing with people and telling jokes. He could make anyone laugh even if they were mad. He enjoyed a good game of horse shoes, he liked to hike in the mountains and collect fire wood and occasionally play the machines. He participated in the Sun Dance for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his significant other, June Saddler-Sutherland; his father, Virgil R. Buffalo; maternal grandparents Louie and Angela (Blackbird) Denny and John and Maretha Charette; paternal grandparents Edward Buffalo and Margaret (Rides Horse) Big Head; uncles Darrell (Juggie) Denny, John Charette Jr. and cousin/brother Tommy Charette.

Dani is survived by his mother, Iris Denny Buffalo; brothers, Virgil L. Buffalo and Joseph (Gomez) Buffalo; daughters, Dana Sutherland Buffalo, Seraya Ameline, Alescia Buffalo; sons, Dani Buffalo Jr., Dominic Buffalo, Xavier Buffalo; two grandchildren; sisters, Shalome Denny, Sharetha Buffalo, and Laura Buffalo; uncles Robert Stump Sr .; Bruce (Wanda) Denny; aunties, Ona (Sonny Belcourt) Denny, June G., Ann (Willis) Buck, Betty Jo Denny, Irene Denny, Barbara Bacon; many nieces and nephews who he made sure to know he loved them; many cousins who were like siblings; numerous extended family and friends. We apologize if we missed anyone during this stressful time.
