Janice was born February 22, 1940, to James and Hazel (Groseclose) Kincer in Wytheville, Virginia. As a young girl, her parents separated. Her mother then married Warren Grubb and the family moved to Havre for Warren's job on the railroad.

Skip began working at the original Buttery's coffee shop and later at the Iron Horse Restaurant and then Havre Public Schools with the hot lunch program. It was while working these jobs that she met many lifelong friends.

Skip was a gregarious woman who enjoyed people. She loved to go camping, bowling, and playing cards. She had a quick wit about her with a sarcastic come back that you had better be ready for. She enjoyed teasing people but her gruff sound was just a front for a very kindhearted lady.

She is survived by her two children, Ed (Heidi) Hill and D'Juana (Ken) Cushing; and Carleen Kenfield, Kelly Erickson, Tom Erickson, Laura Erickson, and Larry Schubert Jr, and many extended family members.
