Havre outdoor water use restored

Havre Public Works reported a major water line break was repaired Wednesday evening and outdoor water use could resume.

Havre residents were asked to restrict their water use and not use outdoor water at all Wednesday morning when a main line from the city water treatment plant broke.

Havre Public Works issued a release at 11:33 a.m. Wednesday asking people to limit water use to indoor only while the break was repaired.

Pubic Works Director Dave Peterson later said in a Facebook post that the break was in the 16-inch main line from the Water Treatment Plant on First Street West.

“At this time, please, no outside watering and limited water use inside until the repairs can be made,” he said in the post.

Peterson said this morning the break was repaired Wednesday evening.

“We got the break finished last evening around 9:45, so everything is back to normal,” he said. “People can continue to use outside water.”

The plant underwent a major upgrade early last decade, with a large addition to the facility and new treatment equipment installed.
