Obituary - Mervin Stanley Getten

Mervin Stanley Getten, 76, passed away on September 25, 2021, in Great Falls, MT.

He was born in Havre, MT to Stanley and Isabelle (Sanguins) Getten. Mervin graduated from Turner High School in 1962 and played baseball for Columbia Basin Junior College for two years. He competed in the 1963 State Legion Baseball Championship at Cut Bank.

Mervin started in the Army National Guard in Montana and served for 40 years in both Montana and Arizona. While in Arizona, Mervin served in the Iraq War for 14 months at age 59. Throughout his years, he also worked at Anderson Wholesale and Gusto Distributors in Havre, MT, and Orkin Pest Control in Arizona. He was also a member of the Great Falls Bobcat Club.

He loved hunting, softball, and Bobcat football. Mervin was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris Freyler; daughters, Yvonne Divel of Missoula, MT, Sheri Getten of Scottsdale, AZ, and Kris Cleary of Mesa, AZ; brothers, Al (Nancy) Getten of Great Falls, MT, Russ (Diane) Getten of Havre, MT, and Gary (Wanda) Getten of Salina, KS; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mervin was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Isabelle.

There will be a celebration of life on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the City Bar from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
