Commission approves special prosecutor, courthouse hours, appoints board members

In their weekly business meeting Thursday, the Hill County Commission unanimously approved a request from the Hill County attorney for prosecutorial assistance in the case of the State v. Alex, as well as establishing hours of operation for the courthouse and a number of board reappointments.

The request from Hill County Attorney Lacey Lincoln would allow for the appointment of a special deputy county attorney to assist in the prosecution of the case.

Daniel Alex, a Hingham man, was being held in the Hill County Detention Center this morning on more than $1.3 million bond on charges including threatening to shoot a state district judge.

The commission also voted to establish business hours for the Hill County Courthouse, which will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday, except for legal holidays.

The commission’s weekly business will be on Thursdays where they will discuss and vote on issues listed in their published agendas.

Hill County Commissioner Diane McLean said all commissioners’ meetings are open to the public with the exception of those provided for in Montana State Law, and public attendance and participation is alway encouraged.

The commissioners also voted to reappoint Bob Kaul to the Great Northern Fair Board as well as Bob Vosen and Arleen Rice to the Hill County Weed District.
