Grief Poem - Look for Inner Strength

Alone, but never quite alone, we face an empty chair -

But sometimes in the silence dear, it seems like you're still there

My dearest one for many year - no longer here with me.

Yet in some mysterious ways, he keeps me company

Memories of him do come my way, though absent, he's still here

Seems every day in some small way, you're loved, and missed my dear.

When we get to heaven, dear one, where all are free from pain,

We'll hug real tight, like long ago - we'll never part again.

We're not a pair, no, not right now, but soon we'll never part;

Because you have that special place, right here within my heart.

You're free from pain since you left earth, and now you're up above,

Feelings of sadness come and go - what stays? Feelings of love.

So many things have happened, dear, since you were called away.

So many things to share with you, had you been left to stay.

Grieving is hard, we need some strength; Lord we ask that from You;

Help us get through unhappy days, help us know what to do.

Jesus, thanks for caring for our dearest, and love him as we do.

Because he was our everything, so loving kind and true.

Renew our strength [1]; we wait for You; we'll try to get things straight.

Because, with You helping us through, we know things will be great.

A new beginning every day - we read in the good Book;

When overwhelmed, hold fast to verse, where we'd just took a look.
