Smith promoted to lead IB home mortgage

from Independence Bank

Independence Bank recently promoted Christy Smith to the position of senior mortgage loan officer.

In this new role, Smith will lead the bank-wide IB Home Mortgage Team.

  Smith is a Montana State University-Northern graduate with a bachelor's degree in business education and a minor in business technology. She has been with the bank for a cumulative 14 years and has held positions in both operations and lending. For the past eight years, Smith served customers as a mortgage loan officer.

"Christy has been a leader on our IB Home Team for years and strives to learn and grow in the field of mortgage lending," Havre Branch Manager Karene Faber said. "She has an amazing team of lenders and support staff, and I am confident that she will continue to build our mortgage services to meet customer needs in all of our branch communities."  

Smith grew up in Harlem and graduated from Chinook High School as a proud Sugarbeeter. She has lived on the Hi-Line nearly all her life and serves on the city of Havre Zoning Board of Adjustments and is a member of the Bearpaw Bowmen.

She shares an active life with her husband, Josh, and her stepdaughter, Lily, who is an eighth grader at Havre Middle School.

When she isn't writing loans, Smith is skiing, hunting, kayaking, and honing her woodworking skills whenever the opportunity arises.
