Press release

Wabtec Corp. announced Monday a donation of $15,000 to Montana State University-Northern for scholarships for students enrolled in electrical, diesel technology, automotive technology or advance fuels programs.

The scholarship, named the W.o.W. - Women of Wabtec - Service Scholarship, aligns with a company initiative to afford development and growth opportunities for women in all stages of their lives and careers. The W.o.W. term was coined with the purpose "to advocate for women across all functions and global locations to ensure each woman reaches her full potential."

"We are so very fortunate for the amount of support we get from our corporate partners here at Northern," said Lisa Moisey, Northern director of Career Services. "Thank you to Wabtec for helping support students who are interested in pursuing technical careers."

"It's been an honor to work with MSU-Northern and students in recent years" said Jason Greenwood, Wabtec senior manager, Field Technical Service. "Wabtec providing this scholarship opportunity for the Northern students showcases the excellence of the program."

The gift came following a visit to MSU-Northern's campus by Wabtec Vice President of Field Services and Maintenance Management Rick Reynolds. Reynolds, who grew up in Havre, returned for the university's career fair in the fall of 2021. While attending the career fair, Reynolds connected with Shantel Cronk, MSU-Northern Foundation executive director, and the two discussed an opportunity for a scholarship sponsored by Wabtec. The company will give $7,500 per semester for distribution to scholarship recipients.
