Obituary - Thomas Healy

Thomas Healy, 73, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Tom was born to Don and Evelyn (Fisher) Healy in Glendive, MT, September 27, 1948. He graduated from Dawson County High School in 1966. He attended Dawson County Community College for two years, after which he transferred to Eastern Montana College in Billings, where he completed his degree.

During his late high school years and early college days, Tom was the lead singer and tenor sax player for a rock band called Madd and the Hatters. They played at many proms and dances throughout eastern Montana. During that time, they won the Montana Battle of the Bands competition and then competed at the National Battle of the Bands competition in Boston. Playing in that band was always one of Tom's favorite memories.

After college, Tom moved to Willow Creek, MT, where he taught school for three years. He decided that teaching wasn't his life ambition, so he moved to Philadelphia, PA to work for his best friend, Mike Vincent, and his dad, Harry, in the swimming pool business. It was during that time that he met the love of his life, Debbie Koefod, while skiing at Bridger Bowl.

Tom and Debbie moved to Havre in 1977. Shortly after, he began working for Koefod Agency where he worked for the next 42 years. Tom served as the president of the Montana Professional Insurance Agents Association and was named Agent of the Year in 1994. He was also a certified insurance counselor.

Tom and Debbie were married in September of 1977. They had two children, Jeff and Tim, and later welcomed his grandchildren, Ty, Courtney, and Riley. Those kids were the light of his life.

Tom spent many hours in his younger years singing with the local barbershop group. He loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. Tom was also involved in Rotary for many years. He and Debbie enjoyed skiing, golfing, and walking with their dogs.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Evelyn Healy; brother Jim Healy; nephew, David Healy; and goddaughter and great niece, Samantha Morley.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; sons, Jeff Healy (Rachel Burchard) and Tim Healy (Alex Steinmetz); grandchildren, Tyrell Verploegen, Courtney Burchard, and Riley Burchard; brother Dan Healy (Pixie Healy); sister-in-law Dyla Healy; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Stewie.

Tom will always be remembered for his kind, gentle demeanor and the first to reach out to others along with the best sense of humor.

Memorial services will be held at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

Memorial donations in Tom's name may be made to Northern Montana Care Center, P.O. Box 1231, Havre, Snowdance Ski Association (Bear Paw Ski Bowl), P.O. Box 1121, Havre, or the Dawson County High School Band Department, 900 N. Merrill Avenue, Glendive, MT 59330, Attn: Angie.
