Letter to the Editor - Thank you Havre for the support

Dear Editor,

Monday, March 7, 2022, I was sworn in as alderman for Ward 1 of Havre’s City Council. I’d like to express my appreciation for all the support I have received. First, thank you to the members of city council who unanimously approved that I fill the open seat for Ward 1. I look forward to working with council members, Mayor Doug Kaercher, department leaders, and the citizens. It is an honor to serve alongside you all.

Second, I would like to thank the many members of the public who encouraged me to run, and those who came out in support of me after I announced I was interviewing for the position. The outpouring of support was truly overwhelming, especially when it was announced that I would be filling the position. I commit to be an active, present member of council. I want people to know that they can reach out to me about anything that concerns them (if it’s important to you, it’s important to me). My job is to represent the people in my ward effectively. I know not everyone wants to get up and speak publicly to council, which certainly does not minimize a citizen’s passion or concern about an issue. Bottom line: Don’t be afraid to send me an email or get in touch with me however you feel comfortable. Citizen involvement is critical to our success as a council.

Finally, I want to say a big thank you to my fiancé, friends, and family. Their support means a lot to me, and if anyone knows how much I care about this city, it’s definitely them. The support system I have in this position is solid. The folks of Ward 1 can trust that I will provide conscientious, levelheaded, and honest representation with fresh ideas, an open-door policy, and the willingness to get involved. I’ve learned a lot over the last several years. One of those things is that Havre will always be home, and this is where I belong. Thank you again Havre. I look forward to this new adventure!

Sincerely,

Joshua Miller

Havre City Council
