Obituary - Winifred 'Wini' Reese Apple

Winifred “Wini” Reese Apple lost her battle with lymphoma on March 19, 2022.

Wini was born to Thomas “Doc” and Agnes Reese in November of 1945. She grew up in Havre with seven siblings and four double cousins from Kremlin. She attended Havre Central High School and graduated in 1963.

She married Karl Apple in 1965 and they began their adventure-filled life together. They lived in several states before purchasing the Apple Family Farm and moving to Geraldine in 1975. When she married Karl she gained another set of parents in Doris and Dale Apple, who loved and cherished her as if she was their own.

Wini was blessed with two children, two granddaughters and one great-grandson that she loved and cherished.

Wini was at the center of so many things in Geraldine that a full list would be long and exhausting. She concentrated on the Geraldine Youth Center, the Geraldine Betterment Committee and anything to do with the school.

Alongside those volunteer activities she found the time and energy to be a competent and trusted farm hand, some days outworking the men while still preparing lunch and doing laundry.

Wini worked with Peters Auction and other auctioneers throughout the state. She enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, playing softball and hunting. She will long be remembered for her quick wit, adventurous spirit and generous attitude.

Wini and Karl retired to Helena in 2012 to be closer to their family.

Wini is preceeded in death by her parents, her in-laws, and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Karl Apple; her children, Dawn and Dale; her granddaughters, Rachel and Celine, and her great-grandson Ardell Karl.

Wini has been cremated and a memorial to celebrate her life will be planned for this summer. Burial will take place at the Geraldine Cemetery at a later date.
