Obituary - Harold Fieber

In the early evening of April 27, 2022, Harold Fieber passed away at Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham, Wa. He was 98 years old.

Harold born in Silverton, Oregon, August 23, 1923, was the 10th child of Charlie and Lena (Mehler) Fieber. At the age of 3, his family moved to a farm in Lampman, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he spent the remainder of his childhood. Living on the farm taught him about making do with what he had and knowing how to fix anything.

In his 20s, Harold moved to Minot, ND, where he met our mom, Lillian Wilkie. They moved to Havre, MT, in 1947 and were married in November of that year. Their children, Paulette and Patricia were born in Havre. Harold and Lillian made sure the girls got a good education first at St. Jude's Catholic School and then the last years at Havre High School. Dad worked at the Great Northern Railroad from 1947 until he retired in 1983. In 1986, he moved from Havre to Colville, WA, where he and mom nurtured their grandchildren Lindsey and Jeffrey until the day they graduated from high school.

Mom and dad loved living in Colville and made many friends there. They were always helping out their neighbors or working at Sacred Heart Parish in Kettle Falls, WA. Dad was never idle and always had something to do-whether it was tending to his beautiful yard or changing his own oil in his much loved Mazda pickup.

Mom and dad made the final move in their later years to Bellingham, WA, where they joined their daughter, Paulette and husband, Gary, as well as granddaughter, Lindsey and grandson, Jeffrey. They lived independently until November 2021 when their health failed them. Dad was preceded in death by mom in February 2022. Dad lived with his daughter, Paulette, until his passing.

Dad is predeceased by his parents, siblings Bill, Eva, Frank, Ed, Martha, Alice, Clarence, Herb, Lester and Mary Louise (Sister Winifred) and survived by siblings Irvin and Katherine. He is survived by daughters Paulette (Gary) Salo and Patricia Love, grandchildren Lindsey (Daryl) Kaiser and Jeffrey (Renn) Salo, great grandchildren Lillian and Grey Kaiser and Avery and Kyler Salo.

At dad's request, there will be no funeral services. If you wish to make a donation in his and mom's name, please consider a donation to Whatcom Hospice House, 2800 Douglas Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225 where they were both lovingly cared for.
