Local Golf Report: Fort Benton's Corder wins state title

They beat the weather. With horrible weather last weekend, the Class C and B state golf tournaments got done just in time.

At the Class C state tournament in Sidney last week, Fort Benton's Casha Corder won the girls state championship by seven strokes with 174. Chinook meanwhile, was led by Shay Hauer with a 218, Morgan Friede with a 235 and Hallie Kralich with a 261. On the boys side, Chinook's Braden Eoff shot 208, while Fort Benton's Andrew Ballantyne shot 208 and Jackson Wright shot a 228.

At the Class B state tournament last week at Fairmont Hot Springs, Joe Demontiney played for Rocky Boy, shooting a 239.

Back at home, men's league at Prairie Farms Golf Course continued last week with Tire Rama scoring 21 points to earn high-team honors on Tuesday night. Lunar Evans, Jeremy Jensen, Josh Warp and Buzz Pizzini composed the team, while Jensen fired a one-under-par 35 for lowe gross and Jake Myers was low net with a 34.

Last Wednesday night saw Korb Construction take high-team honors with 22.5 points. Kyle Miller, Mike Erickson, John Olszewski and Mason Sheppard made up the team. Miller and Jensen were low gross each shooting even par, while Thomas Kline was low gross at 32.5.

Last Thursday night's leagues were canceled. At Beaver Creek Golf Course, they were planning on making up the canceled night on Monday. Women's league at Prairie Farms was also canceled last Thursday due to bad weather.
