Local Golf Report: Check out Junior Golf Thursdays

While league golf in Havre keeps getting interrupted by rain, tournaments have had some pretty good weather so far, and that was the case again this past weekend.

Prairie Farms Golf Course held the Natalie Patrick Foundation Tournament last Saturday, where Clausen & Sons took first place. The team was composed of Ricky Brown, Lorrie Keller, Brandon Matson and Jennifer Matson.

Tilleman/Erickson took second place. That team was made up of Craig Tilleman, Wendy Tilleman, Darrin Boss and Peggy Boss. Third place went to Finley Foods, composed of Todd DePriest, Greg Gile, Jay Eslick and Chris Atkins.

Personally, I'd also like to take this time, as the head coach of the Havre High golf team, to thank the Patrick Foundation and the Patrick family for putting on a great tournament, and all their generous support of Havre High golf over the years. It means so much to all of us involved with the Blue Ponies.

Beaver Creek Golf Course was busy last weekend, too, as they held a pair of tournaments.

On Saturday, the annual Havre Wrestling Club Tournament took place. The four-person scramble was won by Loch Electric.

There was also the North Star Athletics Tournament on Sunday at BCGC, another tourney that has become a staple of the local golf scene.

As for league golf, rain washed away the early part of the week, but ladies league at Prairie Farms and men's league at BCGC were able to be completed on Thursday.

In ladies league Scharfe, Kato and Co. took high-team honors with 23 points. Ali Ward was low gross with a 39, while Peggy Lamb was a low net with a 34.

Speaking of Thursday's, Prairie Farms has an exciting new offer for youth golfers. To get more kids playing golf, Prairie Farms is offering a special package called Junior Thursdays. From 9 a.m. to noon boys and girls grades 6-8 can get a 9-hole round, a range token and a lunch for just $15. Golfers will be paired into groups of four, and clubs are available for use.
