Grief Poem - Remembering

You missed our day, my dearest one, too soon you flew away.

We had good times, a lot of years, you're in my thoughts each day.

You left a note that was just found, you told us not to weep.

That in your grave, no, you're not there - that you're not fast asleep!

You also wrote: "New Address"– you're with the Lord above,

You flew away on that same day; you both send down your love!

Remembering our last sweet kiss, then God called you; "Come Home!"

So off you flew to Heaven's shore, no more on Earth to roam.

You flew above to meet Jesus, let parting just be sweet.

For God knew best and bid you rest, someday, oh yes, we'll meet!

So, life's a lovely memory, your death, our silent grief,

You're missed a lot, but now dear one, you rest in perfect peace.

You didn't die, you just changed shape, not viewed by naked eye;

We will not grieve but rather know you flew off through the sky!

An ode to man who held my hand, marriage engraved a mark.

I'm left alone - I'm lonely dear, death has 'eclipsed' my heart.

It seems I wanted way too much, maybe a morning kiss;

Maybe a hug and some sweet words; "My Honey I will miss."

We know you've gone ahead of us, you've not left us behind,

Although we can't see you right now, you're in our heart and mind.

The day will come - we'll meet again on Heavens distant shore.

We two shall walk holding our hands, peaceful forever more.

Prairie Winds - June 2022.
