2022 Frontier Conference Football Preview: OL

Road graders key to success in the Frontier

Nothing helps a football team win more than, perhaps, a great offensive line. Especially in the Frontier Conference, where the running game is so prevalent, offensive lineman are always at a premium.

And there's some good ones returning to the Frontier this fall.

Up front, the Carroll College Fighting Saints are always good, and they have a pair of First-Team All-Conference linemen coming back in Hunter Mecham and Andrew Carter, both of whom earned top honors a season ago.

Another Frontier squad that always prides itself on good OL play is Montana Tech, and the Orediggers will be formidable this season. Watch for center Max Anderson, guard Carson Shuman and tackle Jack Hiller to all form one of the top offensive lines in the league this year.

Montana Western is also big up front, led by returning All-Conference performer Noah Danielson, who is a two-time honoree for the Bulldogs. Rocky Mountain College is hoping to be stout up front with the trio of Season Makaila, Imari Heard and returning center Max Edmisten leading the way for what should be a potent RMC offense.

Another program that has a potent offense every year is Southern Oregon, and Nick Espinosa should be a key piece to the Raiders' offensive line. Garrett Rehberg should do the same for a College of Idaho offense that's always dangerous.

Meanwhile, the Montana State University-Northern Lights had a strong offensive line in 2021, and the Lights are hoping for more of the same this fall. The return of veteran Spencer Kolody helps. But, overall, the Lights will have a new-look OL this fall.

Editor's Note: This is the third in the Havre Daily News series on the top returning players by position in the Frontier Conference. In Tuesday's HDN, we'll take a look at the top offensive lineman in the league.
