Michael Stevenson, retired music teacher, will play a round of music on the piano touching on different styles and artists.

Brad Taylor is B.J.’s Geetar — Okie, live guitar melodies with professional backing tracks for a full musical sound. He plays locally and his unique gig is very well received. This venue will interest all you music lovers!

Medicare 101 Presentation

For those who are close to turning 65 years old or will turn 65 in the next year or two, we need to start talking about the future of your health care coverage, in other words, Medicare. Even if you do not retire at age 65, you may need to sign up for Medicare within 3 months of your 65th birthday to avoid a lifetime late enrollment penalty. Havre Senior Center is hosting a free Medicare 101 Presentation for all those interested.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks — “Bears on the Hi-Line”

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will be hosting a bear educational event at the Havre Senior Center. FWP bear management specialist Wesley Sarmento will give a presentation on the background of grizzly bears in Montana, how the department manages grizzly bear conflict, and the challenges of grizzly expansion on the prairies east of the Rocky Mountain Front.

Sarmento will explain what to do during a bear encounter, how to safely deter a bear using non-lethal tools and how to secure attractants and prevent a bear from being drawn into agricultural operations and residences. He will also cover other tips to keep people safe around bears, secure food attractants such as garbage, bird feeders and pet food. In addition, there will be skulls, pelts and other bear educational visuals. There may also be an opportunity for attendees to deploy inert bear spray if time allows. This is a free presentation to all.

“Legalities Involved in Aging”

The basics of estate planning, some trust information, guardianships, conservatorships, sc a.m.s & exploitation, normal aging process and dementia will be covered topics by the Montana Legal Service Developers with DPHHS. There will be plenty of time for questions regarding financial and legal matters effecting senior citizens. This is a free event.

Mary Stevens will play her harp or her keyboard and entertain with great music.

 

Wednesday, Aug. 31 — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Foot Care Clinic — A Plus Healthcare — Jan Knudson, licensed nurse, will be at the Senior Center to provide medical pedicure & general nail care. Diabetic foot care assessment is provided. Appointments are made by calling A Plus Healthcare 406-265-4776. The cost is $37.
