With just two weeks until the District 7C Tournament starts, Hi-Line volleyball is coming down to the wire.
Last week was a big one for the Big Sandy Pioneers, as they knocked off Fort Benton Thursday, by scores of 25-23, 16-25, 25-20 and 25-23. Eva Yeadon paced the Pioneers, while Emerson Giese had 19 kills and Hailee Wang had 22 aces for the Longhorns.
The Pioneers continued their fine play with a tough match against first-place Highwood Saturday. In a five-set thriller, the Pioneers fell by scores of 25-21, 23-25, 19-25, 25-14 and 15-8.
In another big 7C matchup, Chinook swept Fort Benton, as the Sugarbeeters won 25-20, 25-15 and 27-25. The Longhorns got 11 kills and two blocks from Emerson Giese in the loss.
In other 7C matches last week, Chester-Joplin-Inverness beat Box Elder 25-14, 25-7 and 25-11 and Centerville, while falling to Chinook by scores of 25-23, 20-25, 28-26 and 25-18. North Star also fell to Centerville by scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-15. Box Elder rebounded to beat HLP 25-16, 25-11 and 25-12, while the Thunderbirds were swept twice by Highwood.
In Class B action, Harlem played Conrad and Glasgow last week.
