Martha was born on May 7, 1933, in Conway, AR, to William and Hazel (Clay) Fraser. She was raised in Conway, graduating from high school there. After high school, Martha attended Arkansas State Teachers College and Arkansas Baptist/Baylor University. She then went on to obtain her nurse's training, and spent the rest of her life alternating between working as a stay-at-home mom and nursing.

While visiting her brother, Martha met Bill Chambers at a dance, and the couple married in December of 1956. The couple had two sons. Bill was actively serving in the Air Force, so the family moved around quite a bit until 1969, when they moved to Great Falls. They remained there for many years, moving to Conway, AR, to care for Martha's mother and for Bill to attend college. The couple moved to Havre, MT, in the late '90s to be near family. Bill passed away in 2008.

Martha enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, and reading, especially her Bible study. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, and spent over 25 years in TOPS and KOPS, working and teaching others to lose weight sensibly. Martha volunteered, delivering home meals in Great Falls, and working at the Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen in Havre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Chambers, in 2008; parents, William and Hazel Frazer; brother, William Hallock Fraser; and brother-in-law, Jerel Seay.

Martha is survived by her sons, William R. (Alice) Chambers of Havre and Walter Chambers of Great Falls; five grandchildren, David (Jamie) Chambers, Katy (Jade) Lowder, Matthew Chambers, Ben (Michele) Chambers, and Ryan (Angie) Chambers; three great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Seay; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
