Grief Poem - I Have Not Gone - I've Been Set Free

I was set free, don't grieve for me, just wanted you to know.

I'm following the path God made, sometimes it's all aglow!

I took His hand when He called me, I had to leave that day.

I turned my back, left all behind, left love and work and play.

So much was left undone down there, I left an empty place.

But I found peace at close of day as God showed me His Grace.

So - fill that place, a friendship shared, remembering all our joy.

Laughs, hugs, a kiss, these things I miss, absence can not destroy.

Don't be burdened with grieving, dear, don't be crushed with sorrow.

I'll walk with you to keep loves bond; the Sun will shine tomorrow.

I left a sadness in your life; a wound that does not mend.

Inside our hearts, aching still's there, it never seems to end.

My life was full, I savored much, no more on earth I roam.

Good times, good friends, a loved one's touch; when God calls you, come HOME!

Lift up your heart, though time flies by, do share some time with me.

You do know that our Lord's in charge; 'Twas Him who set me free.

The day will come, we'll meet again on Heaven's distant shore.

The two of us will hold our hands, together forever more.

You think I'm gone, that I am dead, and life has lost its will.

But look around, I am right there, my soul lives with you still.

We know God's peace[1] transcends it all, the Sound of Silence, too.

We'll have courage and confidence and someday we'll see you.
