News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Christmas is coming

You know Lord, friends stop occasionally and tell interesting stories about their lives. A gal, we'll call her Jill, stopped a while ago, mentioned how lovely the autumns leaves were, some falling, some still attached to their branches. She giggled, mentioned that her Aunt Jane, who lives a ways a way, had told her that in her small town, she'd noticed a playground by a school with a high fence around it. Both of us thought that fence might prevent deer from hopping over; we giggled. ... Like what would be in or at a playground for deer to eat?

Then Jill said her aunt mentioned that in the fence wires, some colored paper cups were pushed in; writing out a message: "Autumn leaves, Jesus stays." She and Aunt Jane thought that was lovely; reminding us that Christmas is coming and Jesus doesn't leave.

As a child, Jill would visit Aunt Jane who told Jill about Jesus and how He floods us with relentless love, He never wavers, He never leaves us; that's why both of them loved the message in the fence.

Jill said that when she was a young child, Aunt Jane would often visit her family. Auntie always brought yummies like cookies, ice cream and uncooked veggies for Mom to cook. Jill told how loving, kind and giving her auntie is; reflecting God's generosity.

Auntie often told her that she/we are to love God; we are to be loving and kind to others and follow God's commands, for we know that Jesus never leaves us, even if we resist or run away; His love never wavers. Jill and Aunt Jane love this Bible verse found in1 John 5:2. "By this we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands."

Thank You, Lord, for special friends who share You with others.

Love, Mara
